Flora Eco Stay began with one clear challenge how do we create a vibrant, meaningful and eco-conscious getaway while working within a tight budget and a short timeline?
Located just 15 minutes from Lonavala’s main market, the property already had potential. What it needed was a fresh identity. The client wanted the space to feel lively, warm and full of character, with bold pops of colour bringing energy into the overall experience. For us, this became an exciting opportunity to give the entire stay a thoughtful cosmetic makeover without moving away from practical constraints.
Since the project had to be completed within 1.5 months, our approach was simple and intentional: refurbish, recycle and upcycle wherever possible. Instead of replacing everything, we studied what already existed and found ways to make it work better. Existing furniture was repurposed to improve functionality, open up movement and make the spaces feel more organized and uncluttered.
At the planning level, small but impactful changes were introduced to create better flow and hierarchy. The goal was to make the stay feel easier to move through, visually balanced and more inviting for guests.
Lighting also played an important role in shaping the mood of the property. Existing lights were retained where they worked, while a few thoughtful additions helped create a warm and relaxed setting for weekend evenings, private stays and quiet getaways.
One of the most beautiful parts of the project was bringing in local artisans. Their work added personality, texture and a handmade charm to the space, turning the property into a live canvas where every corner carried its own story.
The biggest highlight was the transformation of the backyard. What was once an unused area became the heart of Flora Eco Stay with the creation of the Spiral Stage around an existing tree. This simple yet striking feature turned the backyard into a people-centric space for private dinners, small gatherings, live singing nights and intimate celebrations.
Flora Eco Stay is a reminder that good design does not always need a large budget to create impact. Sometimes, with creativity, conscious reuse and a clear vision, an existing space can become something warm, memorable and full of life.
